Especially for Parents

Monthly Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new and exciting year for your child. I hope that you and your family spent an enjoyable and restful summer. I am very enthusiastic to be teaching your child this year; it looks like I have a wonderful class to learn with.

I am writing this letter to remind you of the impact that you and your child have on their education. An elementary education requires three major parts to work together in order to be successful. This includes 1/3 teacher, 1/3 student and 1/3 parents. The whole “package” can only be reached if all three parts put in their best efforts all year.

It is my responsibility to give your child the best, well-rounded education I can provide with the resources at my disposal. To do this I will be using a variety of teaching modes including novel studies, word exploration, hands-on science experiments, computer technology, and critical thinking.

It is your child’s responsibility to arrive at school with a positive learning attitude, all of their supplies, their completed homework, and an open-mind. I expect that all of my students will do their best at school and at home at all times.

We also need the parents help to make this a successful year. Please make it a habit to ask your child what they are doing at school. Ensure they complete their homework on time and read for at least 15 minutes per night. Ask your child questions about their book from time to time. It is important that they know that reading means understanding. Please make sure you sign their agenda only if all of their work is completed. Do not hesitate to call me at school or write a note in your child’s agenda if you have any questions or concerns.

To help you and your child I have set-up our own homeroom webpage which can be found at http://miss-giles.cyber-prof.com On this webpage you can find information concerning different aspects of our daily routine, homework, special projects and our class’ favourite links.

I am looking forward to meeting you at our Open House in the early Fall. Until then, feel free to reach me at school or email me gilesc@ped.etsb.qc.ca and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Sincerely, Miss Giles
